Other gpu-accelerated applications more oriented towards archviz, like Lumion and Twinmotion have their own custom plugins that export to Collada to overcome this limitation. So importing an revit-fbx file in 3dxchange works fine. ONLY Autodesk products recognize the material information in Revit-generated fbx files. It is a terrific BIM (Building information Modelling) solution, but 3d-wise is limited by it's export capabilities to dwg (Autodesk Autocad), fbx (closed-source Autodesk), ifc (Industry Foundation Class, not completely supported btw).

Supporting Collada directly in 3dxchange5 would, IMHO, open up iClone to waaay more pipelines than spores etc.įBX being a format in control by Autodesk, it has quite some "gotchas" that regular users might not often see, but they're there.Īs an example, take Autodesk Revit. Why not just have a damn export option!!!! Even if paid for? Why do they have to be so cladestine about it Only if it works on Win7 AND I could get that hack to work! Only cost about $20 back then so prob just as easy to rebuy it!

Now I no longer know which email account or password I used so could not reinstall it on my new desktop anyway! it was a very early purchase! Before I was even familiar with 3D! (could get every OTHER hack to work but that one, the only one I wanted, just got to a point of choosing a place for saving the export and then did nothing!)Įventually uninstalled it from my computer as I got other software.Īsked and was ignored a lot on their forum I had Spore creature creator AND the cute and creepy addon but NEVER got the collada hack to work!

The Free Autodesk FBX converter, converts Spore creatures to the right FBX format for 3DX4, but it would be great if 3DX5 could handle Spore characters and redefine Quadruped Characters to the Iclone Bone system
